Del Mar Community Services Building
Del Mar, California
The Community Services Building occupies a tight, ocean front site and will house the City's lifeguard service and provide public restrooms and showers. The building's size and massing are constrained by an existing drainage channel, parking and neighbors' views through the site. An inverted, boat hull-like roof references the training boats used by the lifeguards while exposed trusses expand on Del Mar's suedo-Tudor architectural tradition. Materials are chosen for their durability and appropriateness to Del Mar.
